Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large amounts of unlicensed medications have been taken by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medications can be dangerous.

"These types of items being sold, online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
